Baguio, Antipolo, and Thailand

In the last month I have slept in my bed only 4 nights. We started by traveling to Baguio as a family. The kids loved being at the base and I also enjoyed teaching in the Making Disciple Makers (MDM) staff and leaders training. It was also a delight to meet up with old friends and talk to John and Angie Parsons who are currently leading the base. We really enjoyed our time.
Outside of the teaching Baguio is where Haydee and I met and also where we had our honeymoon. We have a lot of fond memories of Baguio and it was nice to walk down memory lane!
After Baguio we headed home and celebrated Lemuel's birthday by heading to Star City; an amusement park in Manila with family. Lemuel said it was the best Birthday ever!
After that we headed up to YWAM Antipolo as a family where I went to teach in their DTS on Father Heart of God. God showed up! He was not only touching the students but also me!
Right after teaching in Antipolo I flew out to Thailand and last week taught in Chiang Rai's Thai/ English DTS on Relationships and this week I am teaching Re-entry in their English DTS.
Being back in Thailand has been a blessing reconnecting with friends.
In the midst of busyness God has been speaking to me and I am very encouraged on how He is leading us. We still got a lot more stuff coming, but thank you for taking the time to pray and support us during this time. It means more then you can imagine. (In the picture is a lady who a lot of staff in the YWAM Chiang Rai has befriended. Could you please pray for the next 30 sec. that she will know God more? Thanks!)

Heading Out for Typhoon Haiyan Relief

As the world knows by now Super Typhoon Haiyan landed in the Philippines and has done much destruction. With 9.3 Million effected and at least 600,000 homeless the death toll will raise (Red Cross estimating at 10,000) if there is no relief.

Currently Youth With A Mission locally and internationally is headed to the effected areas to bring life saving relief. Cebu (my former home for 8 years) has become a hub for relief not just for YWAM but the world coming to help out in this disaster.

I (Dustin) will be headed to Cebu to help organize and network with other churches and NGOs so we can effectively reach people in the hard hit areas. . Please read on to see what we will be doing.

Most Powerful Storm Recorded.

When the typhoon hit I (Dustin)  was in General Santos City (Mindanao) teaching in their DTS. I knew that the center of the Philippines was going to get hard and also Manila would be somewhat effected. With my family living south of Manila my first concern was my family. But even after a little scare of trying to call Haydee and not getting through, my family was safe.

But the sad truth is that our story is not the same for other families in the disaster zone. There are still people looking for love ones  and friends and others who lost their whole family. And with the survivors of this storm there is no food, no clean water, no where to go, and hope is dropping. Desperation is in high gear. Their cry is being heard and the world is trying their best to respond.

YWAM International are sending teams from all around the world. With in the next few days we will have times from the States, Mexico, Netherlands, and Australia coming in to help. We also have teams from around the Philippines entering into this zone to bring help.

A lot as fallen on YWAM Cebu since this has happened. They have become a hub for relief for those of us in YWAM. I will be going there to help out any way I can to get these teams stocked and out into the effected areas. Also we will be doing our best to try to network with churches and other NGOs so we can be strategic in our response.

Please keep the Philippines in your prayers. The next few weeks are vital, but it will take years to rebuild.

Donations for Typhoon Haiyan Relief

I would like you  to pray if you are to give during this time.

Personally, I have 3 ways you can give.
You can give to YWAM Philippines. We have local teams going out and your gift and help them give much needed supplies to the effected.
You can also give through YWAM International.

And if you would like you can give to us to help for my personal expenditures  you can click here.

Thank you for taking the time to pray for the Philippines and considering if God would lead you to give.

Trip USA

For those who have been keeping track you know that we have been through a lot to get our kids' Recognition of Philippine citizenship, Philippine passports, and we are currently waiting for the US passports to be delivered end of this month. We also just scheduled Haydee's interview with the US Embassy for her US visa. If you know the cost of all of these things so far we have spent a total of $1350. There has been some people who have been giving extra and because of this we have been able to get this far and we are very grateful. We are targeting late October to fly out and fly back to the Philippines in March. We are planning to visit many States after spending the Holidays in Colorado.
But the truth is we are very far off our need for the plane tickets. We are looking at different options like flying first to the west coast and then find a way to get to Colorado. But honestly we are nowhere near where we need to be. To fly all the way to Colorado we are looking at $7000 (prices keep on changing). But if we can get a little over $5000 we can buy tickets to California right away.

Can you please pray and ask God if you can give extra for this trip? Even a small gift can be a big help. But if God ask you to give a bigger gift it will go a long way. To give please CLICK HERE for ways to give.
Even if you are not able to give please keep this trip in your prayers. We are way overdue for a furlough (it has been 5 years) and we know this is the right time. Pray that unseen doors will open to make this trip happen.

As you know we are planning to visit the States in October. We have not been back in America for 5 years. We have received some gifts which has allowed us to process our kids needed paperwork for their passports and some housing and vehicles to use while we are there. But we are a long way off when it comes to airfare. We still need over $6500.

Please pray about giving a one time gift for our travel.
Just email us and click here on how to give.

 Teaching on Relationships in Thailand

We live in a broken world where there are dysfunctional, wrecked relationships. God created us for relationship with Him and with others, but many of us don't grow up in families that teach us how to have healthy relationships. How much more if a person grows up without much family at all?
Next week I (Dustin) Will be teaching in the Justice DTS in Phuket Thailand. Please take a look at their website and spend some time praying for the teaching next week. This topic usually brings up a lot of dysfunction on how we relate. Pray that God will bring out things in the student's lives that they need to face.

After Thailand I will come back to the Philippines for one week. Then I will fly to undisclosed country (email me if you want to know) and teach on Intercession. Then back to the Philippines for 4 days then fly back to Thailand to teach on the Lao Focues DTS in Ubon Ratchathani on Intimacy with God and Hearing the Voice of God. With me traveling so much these coming weeks we got a busy month! Please keep us in your prayers!

In May I (Dustin) will be teaching on Relationships in the Justice DTS in Phuket, Thailand. It is a DTS with the focus on Justice issues and God's heart toward them. If you read the overview (click here) you will see how important the topic of relationships is for this school
Even though I will not be teaching in the DTS until next month, please take the next minute to pray for this school which is currently running. Pray that God would move in the lives in the students and also staff of this school. I believe what God has big plans for the people in this DTS.

Heading to the States this year!

It has been 5 years since we have been back to the States. It is clear in our hearts that now is the time. Michaella prays every night that God will make it possible for us to go to the States this year.
We are still busy this year up through half of October where we will be in Battambang, Cambodia helping out with the DTS Equip. But after that we want to head to the States so we can be there during the holidays! But this does not say there are not challenges. We need some things to take place to make that can happen. Here is what we are looking at:

  1. We still need about $800 for government paperwork, passports (for Haydee and two of our kids) and visa cost (Haydee's Visa). We need this ASAP as some of these things take time.
  2. We need around $7000 for plane tickets (round trip from Manila to Denver, Colorado). Airline tickets have been going up the last few years. Currently this is what I need if I got the tickets now. The price could go up in the coming months.
  3. When we are in the States we also need a car. We will at first be staying in Colorado. So if you or of you know someone who is willing to let us use their car awhile we are in Colorado. If possible if we could drive the car out of State, that would be great. But if not that is okay too.
We would like you to please pray and ask God if you should give give toward this trip. If God doesn't lead you to give, please do pray that we can get all we need to make this happen. If you would like to give CLICK HERE.

We got a big God. He can make this happen. Thank you for those who stand with us through giving and through prayer.

God's Plan or Ours?

As anyone who has been keeping up to date with our newsletters for the past few years knows that we have had a crazy ride. But I can tell you we have been blessed. I can truly say that God lead us down this path.
I think of all the other opportunities that was opened to us. They looked good at the time but God didn't lead us down those paths. Now we can see if we walked down any of those paths we would be in a world of hurt.
But we are asking now what God has for us. In that I (Dustin) felt that God wants me to expand more in Asia and the Pacific. How this will happen? I don't know. We have some other impressions that we are asking God for more clarity.
One thing for sure we are in a new season and we are looking forward. If we have learned anything it is that we need to follow God's leading. Once we get going in ours we can get off track.
Some say it is okay to do what you think is best. God knows. The problem I find with that is when I look in the Bible the people who did that made some major mistakes.
For us, more so then ever before, we need God's plan in our life.

Rescue and Relief Training

2/11/2014

I spent a few days inYWAM Antipolo in a rescue and relief training done by Rescue and Relief International  To have this kind of training has been something in my heart that was highlighted when Typhoon Haiyan hit. Every year the Philippines gets hit with typhoons along with strong rains. I have been in a number of floods and experienced earthquakes. Also, the Philippines support a few active volcanoes. YWAM Philippines needs a better response when it comes to national disasters. This training is one of the first steps to see that happen.
Not saying we didn't do a lot to help those affected by Typhoon Haiyan. Actually I believe it was the best response to a national disaster. We sure learned a lot and also became aware that we need to know more.
We learned some very basic tools to help us respond. We learned how to make a splint, take a pulse and how to control bleeding. Now it was some very simple things but it can save lives. Currently, YWAM Philippines are making plans to have more of this type of training to take place in the Philippines.
