Prayers needed for Haydee

2/26/2019

Last February 14, Haydee had a bilateral diagnostic mammography and targeted breast ultrasound. She was having some discharge and we wanted to have it checked out. After the diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound they saw a small mass. So a week later they scheduled a biopsy that happened last Friday. This morning we have the results.
The good news is that there is no cancer (praise the Lord!). But they did find a mass called an Intraductal Papilloma. The only way to treat it is through surgery. We will be meeting with a surgeon within the next week to schedule a surgery. We do ask for your prayers.
Also,  we have learned that the owner of the house we are living in are selling the house. So we will be moving by the end of March or April. There are some very big changes coming up that will be in our next newsletter so keep on the look out for that.
But as for now, please pray for healing for Haydee and also our upcoming move. There are lot of things moving at the same time. We do appreciate all your prayers,  thank you!

Updates on Camps, Hurricanes, and Trips

We had a busy summer where we had the privilege to share in the River of God in Maryland, visit my sister and her family in New Hampshire, and speak at Forest Cliff Camp in Ontario, Canada. A lot of “God things” took place on the trip, but I want to share one with you.
At the camp, I was their weekly speaker. I spoke in 10 sessions throughout the whole week with about 200 kids between the ages of 6 to 12 years old. About half of them are not from a church background. When I shared the gospel and seeing a group of kids praying to receive Christ, I was almost moved to tears. That was a powerful night. This trip couldn’t happen without people like you who invest in us in prayers and financial support.

I also want to thank all of you who prayed for us and called us during Hurricane Florence. We didn’t lose power and had no flooding in our house. We didn’t lose power and had no flooding in our house. But as you know North Carolina and South Carolina are still dealing with flooding.  Please keep those affected families and area in your prayers.

Due to the lack of students enrolling for our Fall Discipleship Training School, we had to cancel. Because of that, coming this November 14, we (as a family) will be traveling to Asia along with Bradley, one of the staff here in Charlotte. I will be teaching in the DTSs in Butuan, Philippines and Phnom Penh, Cambodia. I will also take a week teaching YWAM staff in Battambang, Cambodia. There are some other ministry opportunities developing in the Philippines also. We will be back on January 16. Overall, we are excited about what God is going to do and the things that He prepared for us and through us!

The great news is we have some really cheap tickets. We also had some money come in to help pay them! We currently need a little over $4500 to meet our total cost for the trip. Will you give on our website by CLICKING HERE.

With thankful hearts,

Campbell Family

Prayer Points:
  • We will find caregivers to take care of our dog Tobi when we are gone.
  • Safety in all of our travel.
  • Kids can keep up with all of their homeschooling while traveling.

This summer we have had the privilege to help and serve in the urban shelter as a family.  We helped prepare and serve the meals. Also, Haydee’s sister had the chance to come visit us for 10 days! She helped us out serving and we had an awesome time showing her around Charlotte on her first trip to the States.  Her visit was a gift from the Lord!

This week we will be leaving on a 3-week trip. Our first stop will be in Maryland I will be sharing in River of God Church this Sunday.  From there we will drive to New Hampshire and visit my sister Phyllis and her family for a few days. Then we will head to Ontario, Canada. We will be at Forest Cliff Camp. Justin will be a camper, Lemuel will be in their leadership program, Michaella will be a counselor in training, and I will be the speaker for the week. We are looking forward to it!

When we get back in YWAM Charlotte we will be hosting the DTS Workshop. This is where we have staff from a number of bases on the East Coast come here for training. Then in September our DTS starts.  Coming November, I will fly to the Philippines to teach in the DTS in Butuan and the following week I will fly to Phnom Penh, Cambodia to teach in their DTS. Then in January we (Haydee and I) will be leading the DTS outreach team to the Philippines along with our kids!

So with all of our travel coming up, we have a lot of additional costs. Would you give toward our coming travel?  You can do so by CLICKING HERE.

Thank you for all of you who support us financially and/or pray for us. There is no way we could do what we do without you!

With thankful hearts,

Campbell Family

Prayer Points:

- Safe travel and good health as we drive for the next 3 weeks.
- When I speak in Maryland this Sunday (July 22) and also in Forest Cliff Camp (July 29 to August 3)

Since our last communication, a lot has happened. We graduated our Fall Discipleship Training School (DTS) and Haydee and I both spoke at the Filipino International Community Church. We are also prepping for what is coming this summer.
Next week we will have “The Gathering” where we will have 5 or more different YWAM locations bring their schools here for a week-long teaching on Lordship. Excited for what the Lord has in store for all of us. For sure we will all be challenged and encouraged.
On May 18, as a family, we will make our way to Maryland to join River of Life’s 20th year anniversary. We are looking forward to our time together of fellowship, worship and reflecting on what God has done there! It is really an awesome story.
Coming July, we are headed to Forest Cliff Camp in Ontario, Canada! I will be sharing for the week while our kids are joining the camp. Michaella will be a counselor in training (CIT) while the boys will be campers. We are looking forward to serving and at the same time have some fun!
Also, in the past few weeks, I received invitations to teach in DTSs in Butuan, Philippines and Phnom Penh, Cambodia in November!

Thank you for all of you who partner and support us financially and/or pray for us. We are so grateful for friends like you.

With thankful hearts,

Campbell Family

Prayer Points:

- Our travel this Summer. Pray for divine appointments and safety.

Great Start to the New Year!

PicturePraying at the Western Wall
Since the New Year we have had lots going on! Haydee took a trip to Israel! There she met with friends of hers. One is a Filipina who is a childhood friend and a former DTS student and a Swiss missionary who used to be a missionary in the Philippines! It was awesome to meet and encourage friends.

We both have had a dream to visit Israel. The middle of last year through a friend and a Filipino church in Spain, the dream came to pass for Haydee. We had to pay about half of what it usually cost for a tour of Israel. Also, Haydee made new friends who live in Spain and Israel. We know it was a God connection and look forward to what will come to pass in the future. If you like to see pictures CLICK HERE.

Back in Charlotte, we have had our DTS on outreach in Cambodia. They have had an awesome time working with a church there and reaching out the children in many ways. They will be back March 5. Our next DTS starts April 2.

Next week we will be hosting the leaders of the International DTS Centre for North America.
Thank you for all of you who support us financially and/or pray for us. There is no way we could do what we do without you!

With thankful hearts,

Campbell Family

Prayer Points:
- Wisdom and grace as we homeschool
- We will get more students for our April DTS

Life Lessons in Gift Exchange

12/13/2017

PicturePhoto by Ben White
Have you ever heard of a "White Elephant Gift Exchange?"  If you haven't Google it, but in short it is where you go to a party (usually Christmas party) and you bring a gift for some unknown person. Then you draw numbers. If you get number 1 you are the first one to pick one of the gift surprises and open it. Then number 2 can choose to either steal the gift from the first person or pick a different gift. Of course if you are down in the number count you have a selection of what gift you want to steal. If your gift gets stolen, then you can steal someone's else's or pick a new gift out. I think you get the idea.
We went through this last night at a Christmas party. I personally enjoy watching it and being a part of it. But I do believe there are some life lessons you can learn from this.
  1. Hold onto things lightly. In this game the gift you just  obtained you can loose in a couple of minutes! True in the game, but also true in life. A fire, theft, or some bad investment can cause you to loose something that you have placed some kind of value. Be willing to let things go.
  2. Rejoice in the relationships. Something like this will expose where relationships are at. When people are close you will have more fun. Don't think so much about what you are going to get, but enjoy the people around you.
  3. Be generous. That can come in different forms. It could be what you bring (there are different rules played that may affect this), but also in the exchange. Last night I stole a gift  that I personally liked from someone. I would use it and be happy with it. But I knew the person I took it from really liked it also (they stole it from someone else). So she was displeased, but that is all apart of the fun! But afterwards I went up to her and gave her the gift. For me to see the smile on her face was the best gift I got from that night.
If you read my last blog you know I love what Christmas is all about. Remember that this time of year it is about Jesus and how He was the Ultimate Gift from God to bring us into relationship with Him and learn to be in healthy relationships with one another. So let us value people more than things (Points 1 and 2),  live a life of generosity (point 3), and be grateful for what God has done for us and others in our life. Christmas is a great reminder for these lessons not only for this season, but all year around.

Thinking on Christmas

12/10/2017

PicturePhoto by Aaron Burden
Have you been busy? I have.
Not only in the basic Christmas busyness (buying gifts, Christmas cards, etc) but all in our ministry. The last couple of months we have had a lot going on.
But I find myself wanting to pull back and just think on Christmas. I am wanting to rest (at least in my mind) on what Christmas is all about.
A couple of nights ago my wife and I was watching "The Christmas Carol" (1999 version). Scrooge is the main character and the whole point of the movie is that he is missing the point. Why go through Christmas? Why celebrate? Why buy gifts and so on. The movie in short makes that caring for others is a gift unto itself and so on.
Well, I think we can go through Christmas like that. We can count down to Christmas, practice all of our family traditions (and I like those), and go to all of the parties, but still miss the point.
Take sometime to reflect on the birth of Jesus. Read ahead and start with the book and Luke and think about the ultimate gift given to man, announced to shepherds, born to outcast, staged in a manger, laying in a feeding trough, and about to become an refugee in Egypt. It is through this child that the salvation of all of mankind of all of time would come from. Through this child words of wisdom would flow what we ponder for over 2000 years. Through this child would heal many, care for many, and model for us how we are designed to be. "Jesus is the Reason for the Season"  is not only a catchy saying, it is the deeper truth we are in danger of missing.
So when you look at the Christmas lights, remember that Jesus is the light to the world. When you see the gifts under the Christmas tree, remember He was the ultimate gift. When you look at your Christmas tree remember it is in Christ we find life. And when you see your filled stockings, remember it is only Jesus Christ that can truly fill every part of our broken lives with His love.
Don't let us just be busy this Christmas Season. Let us think on why we are celebrating it.

Bringing this Year to a Close

The last couple of months a lot of things happened. We attended Awaken the Dawnin Washington D.C and the YWAM staff conference in Orlando. I also taught in YWAM Myrtle Beach, YWAM Charlotte, and online to a Bible School in the Philippines covering topics on like Family and ministry, Relationships, and Identity. And all of this happened as we staffed in the DTS in Charlotte!
We also enjoyed Rodel’s (Haydee’s brother) visit. He traveled to Canada due to work and had a chance to spend a week with us in North Carolina. It truly warmed our hearts.
If you had the chance you will see that we also have been helping with our 500 Thanksgiving Food Drive (See picture). YWAM Charlotte along with Heart for Monroe and the body of Christ we feed 500 families in need of that Thanksgiving meal. What a great way to start wrapping up this year.
We do ask you to remember us through your year-end-giving. Will you give to us online at dhcampbell.org? We are so grateful for you.
Thank you for all of your prayer and/or financial support this past year. There is not a day that passes where I am not humbled by all of you who walk with us on this journey. Words truly can not express our gratitude.
Blessings to you and your family as we enter this season of celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ!

In Charlotte, Heading to Myrtle Beach, then Orlando!

Since we arrived back to North Carolina we have been certainly engaged. We hosted a Discipleship Training School Foundational Workshop where Haydee and I spoke. This is a training for DTS school leaders and staff to equip them in leading/staffing their DTSs. We had YWAM staff come in from many other bases around the East Coast. It was very encouraging and productive.
Last month, we started our DTS here in Charlotte. I am fully involved while Haydee is leading a small group (see picture). It is superb to get back to our roots and doing what we both love, discipleship.

Later on this month, I will be traveling to YWAM Myrtle Beach, SC to speak in their DTS on Identity and Relationships. Then in November, as a family we will be traveling to Orlando, FL for our YWAM’s Eastern North America Gathering  conference.

Thank you for all of you who support us financially and/or pray for us. There is no way we could do what we do without you!

With thankful hearts,

Campbell Family
