I am excited to share that my third book, The Towel and the Throne, has now been published and is available on Amazon.

This historical novel explores the final Passover Jesus shared with His disciples and the events that unfolded that night. Told through the perspectives of several disciples, the story weaves together the Gospel accounts to help readers imagine what that night may have looked and felt like. Through it all, the book highlights how Jesus redefined greatness—not through power or position, but through humility, sacrifice, and service.

Lord willing, I am also planning to release three more books before the end of this year as I continue working on several writing projects.

Spring has been a season full of ministry, milestones, and new opportunities. In this update I share about recent teaching opportunities, what is happening here at YWAM Lynchburg as the college year comes to an end, Justin’s next step after graduation, and the release of my third book.

​New Doors for Teaching
The year has already opened several opportunities for teaching.

In February, I had the privilege of traveling to Washington, D.C., where I taught on Godly Relationships in a Discipleship Training School hosted by a Korean church just outside the city. It was encouraging to spend time with students who are preparing for missions and helping them think through how biblical principles shape the way we relate to God and to one another.

Just last week, I also had the opportunity to teach in a DTS located in an undisclosed country via Zoom. Because of security reasons, I cannot share the location, but it was exciting to see how God is raising up students in places where ministry happens underground.

Here at home, I have also begun teaching in our College ministry's Bible Study on Spiritual Warfare, helping students understand how to stand firm in Christ and live with spiritual discernment.

YWAM Lynchburg
As the college school year comes to an end, we are preparing for a busy and exciting season here at YWAM Lynchburg. In the coming weeks, we will host our graduation celebration for the college students who are finishing their studies.

We will also be welcoming a number of visitors who will be staying with us during graduation week. It is always a special time as families, friends, and students gather to celebrate what God has done over the past year..

One of the highlights of the week will be our Love Feast. This is a special time of thanksgiving where we share a meal together, worship, and celebrate all that God has done during the year. It is also a time when we honor several people who have served faithfully in our community.

Justin is Planning to Do DTS
Justin is about to graduate from high school, and he is planning to take his next step by doing a Discipleship Training School (DTS)!

Right now, he is looking at attending a DTS in Davao, Philippines, where his brother Lemuel is currently on staff. We are excited to see how God will lead him during this season of discipleship, outreach, and discovering what God has for his future.

As this year comes to a close and a new one begins, we want to pause and thank you for standing with us so faithfully. Your prayers, encouragement, and generosity have strengthened our hands more than you know. Because of your partnership, we’ve seen Jesus open doors and allow us to invest in people in ways that continue to amaze us.

Looking back over the year, we’re deeply grateful for the opportunities the Lord has given us to serve and build His Kingdom:
  • Teaching online and in person at several schools and ministry training programs.
  • Walking alongside college students at YWAM Lynchburg and sending teams—one to Turkey in the summer and another to the Philippines over Christmas.
  • Completing my book Made for Relationships and nearing the finish line on my next book, Step by Step Through the Bible.
  • Mentoring ministry leaders across four different nations.

Every one of these moments has been a reminder that God is moving—and that we don’t do this work alone. Thank you for being part of the story.

PicturePhilippine Outreach Team
As this school year began, two of our staff felt led to spend their Christmas break on outreach in the Philippines. We opened the opportunity to college students, and before long, three more joined!
The team will visit three YWAM locations across Mindanao:
  • Nehemiah House in Cagayan de Oro, a ministry reaching out to young women and children in need.
  • A tribal ministry in Bukidnon, serving and learning from local indigenous communities.
  • YWAM Davao in Davao City, where they’ll spend Christmas and New Year, connecting with the local team and celebrating Filipino-style.
They’ll also get to visit Lemuel, experience a true Filipino Christmas, and be a blessing to the ministries they serve alongside.
We’re excited to hear all that God will do through this trip!

New Book Coming Soon!
As many of you know, I released my first book, Made for Relationships, in late August. Several readers have written to share how it’s impacted their lives—how God has used it to bring healing both in their relationships with others and in their walk with Him. It’s deeply encouraging to see how something God placed on my heart continues to touch people I’ve never even met.
I’ve also been working on a daily devotional project. Back when I was pastoring, I often met people who wanted to read through the entire Bible but found it difficult once they reached books like Leviticus. That inspired me to create a devotional with a chronological reading plan—guiding readers through the story of Scripture while offering daily applications that connect God’s Word to everyday life.
My hope was to release it by the end of this year, though that might be a stretch since I still have about half of the New Testament to complete, plus formatting. Please keep this project in your prayers as it comes together!

Sharing at MAPS Global
Last week, I was invited to speak at MAPS Global, a new missions organization pioneering work in the Middle East. They asked me to teach on building multicultural teams, a topic close to my heart.
Their main office is in Richmond, but I also joined their Middle Eastern teams via Zoom. God truly moved during our time together—I sensed His leading in a powerful way. I’m excited about what He’s doing through Global MAPS and honored to be part of their journey as they step into the exciting challenge of building multicultural communities that reflect God’s Kingdom.

We’ve launched into a new school year! This year’s return of students has been a joy. Bible study is thriving, with a wave of new college students joining us. Twice a month, we host community worship nights, and we continue to serve alongside the Salvation Army through food pickups.
This Christmas break, two of our staff felt called to join an outreach to the Philippines. We opened the opportunity to students, and three more signed up! The team will complete their outreach in YWAM Davao, where Lemuel is faithfully serving.

​Passing of a Friend
In 2019, while working on my Master’s degree, I met Glenn Martin. He quickly became more than a teacher; he became a friend who deeply influenced my walk with God.
Last July, Glenn was diagnosed with a rare cancer. Just three weeks later, he went home to be with his Savior, Jesus. In August, Haydee and I traveled to Canada to grieve with his family and honor his life. Please join us in praying that the comfort and peace of Christ will surround his family in this season.

Michaella originally planned to study in Italy for her Master’s degree, but new visa rules made it nearly impossible. She has transferred to Washington, D.C., where she is closer to home and expanding her network. We believe this is the best path forward.

    Michaella – She's about to begin graduate school at Johns Hopkins in Washington, D.C., but still has no housing. Pray for a safe, affordable place to open up quickly.
    Sarah – Sarah Anna-lise, a longtime YWAM missionary, is preparing for a 13-nation outreach across Africa to bring the Bible to unreached communities through URstory Bible training. She needs $4,896 for a motorbike, gear, and travel. Please pray for her provision—and if you'd like to learn more or support her, click here.
  • New School Year – College students are arriving, and a fresh school year is underway! Pray that we'll start strong in reaching and discipling new students for Christ.

Team Returns from the Middle East with Inspiring Stories
Our team recently returned from their outreach in Turkey, overflowing with stories of how God opened doors to share the gospel. These college students experienced life-changing moments as they boldly shared God’s love and good news.
Each year, YWAM Lynchburg seeks to send a team on a summer outreach to an overseas location. Please pray that God will call those He wants to go next year and guide us clearly to the destination He has in mind.

Developing Leaders through the Master’s Program
Haydee and I are looking forward to staffing the University of the Nations Master’s Program in Europe for 2026-2027, a 22-month Master of Arts in Team-based Communication. This program equips leaders in global missions with skills to navigate teamwork, decision-making in diverse settings, supervisor and peer communication, and the impact of technology. The program culminates in a capstone or thesis project, shaping mature leaders who continue serving actively.

Please pray for the students God is calling to this program and for us as we serve.

From Raising Kids to Raising Leaders: Our Journey Continues
Haydee and I have served with YWAM for nearly 30 years, raising our kids in the mission and seeing God work in amazing ways. We’ve discipled hundreds of young people and taught thousands, engaging in missions.

For 2026-2027, we’re excited to join the University of the Nations Master’s Program in Europe, training leaders who will shape our mission for years to come. This involves two trips to Europe each year for the next two years. We’ve also been invited to teach in the Philippines.

After graduating, Michaella flew to the Philippines to spend time with family before starting her Master's program. She will also see Lemuel in Davao.

​Has helped in a Lego camp at our church! He did great helping his team build with Legos, while also learning about God.
