As a family we went to Davao for a few reasons. One major reason was we needed to pick up some of our things (Wedding pictures and other things) that we left in Mindanao. But we also wanted to see our good friends. Good close friendship is not always easy to find. We are blessed to spend some time with them in Davao. For the kids, Davao is the city where they had grown up (our two boys were born there). For them it was a walk down memory lane. The only regret we have is that we didn't stay longer. It is clear we as a family, love Davao and it has a special place in our hearts. At the end of next month we are heading to Thailand. We also have things left behind there that we need to settle and attend a wedding of friends of ours. When praying last October I (Dustin) felt God wanted me to be more open to the idea of buying a house in Charlotte. So, I emailed Todd and Vickie (Base leaders in Charlotte) to be on the lookout for any houses that maybe open in the area. They got back to me and told me about a house that was owned by some YWAMers who left YWAM Charlotte to pioneer a base elsewhere. They have been renting out the house for a few years but were open on selling. We started communicating with them and they gave us a walk through video of the house along with some pictures. We learned that the house is 1574 sq feet with a lot 8000+ sq feet with 3 bedrooms and 1 and 1/2 bath. They prayed on how much they should sell the house and they are willing to sell it to us for only $95,000 ($98,000 after closing). As we prayed we felt that God wanted us to pursue the house. This is a huge step for us, but in the long run it is the best way to go. If we can get a mortgage our payments would be around $500 a month. Rent in the same neighborhood for the same kind of house is $850 to $900. If we could buy this house it would help our monthly expenditures every month. Here are some things you can pray about: 1- Pray that we can get a traditional mortgage. I have been working on my credit for the past year. Hopefully it would be enough to get this mortgage. We will start working on this in April when we get to the States. 2- Pray for the down payment. Of course this is a need. Pray that we can get it and also pray if you are to give a one time gift toward it. If you feel led to give please reply to this email and let us know. Of course, we still need some more things as we make this move. We will be needing our airfare, a vehicle, furniture, etc that comes with this kind of move. We are excited about this faith adventure. Big changes are coming. Thank you for being a part of it! If you like to see more pictures of the house CLICK HERE Thank you for taking the time do pray for us. Pray everything will flow smoothly and the visa will be released in the right time. Pray that we can get her interview at the US Embassy sooner rather then latter. 2. Pray for us as we serve Haydee's father (Felix) specially for her brother's family as they take care of him in his remaining days. Felix has lost a lot of weight and it is only a matter of time before he passes away. To read more about Felix CLICK HERE. 3. Pray for wisdom and guidance as we home-school our kids.If you have been praying about this it has been working! Kids are overall doing better. 4. Pray for our move to Charlotte. We are going to need housing, vehicle, furniture, etc. We know that God will make a way (CLICK HERE to read about it) We highly appreciate all your prayers. Thank you! |
