Starting a New School Year
Here at YWAM Lynchburg, we are preparing for the start of another school year. Before long, our city will once again be filled with students returning for the fall semester. We have been preparing for the months ahead and looking forward to the opportunities this new season will bring.

​In about a month, I plan to post a video sharing some changes that are coming to our ministry. Keep an eye out for that - I look forward to telling you more soon.

Haydee Attends Trauma Debrief Training

Many missionaries experience difficult and sometimes traumatic situations while serving around the world. Over the years, Haydee has had the opportunity to listen to, encourage, and debrief missionaries who have walked through some of these experiences.

​This week, she is taking part in a Critical Incident Debrief Training that focuses on trauma, grief and loss, resilience, and how to walk alongside people after a crisis. The training is giving her additional tools to help missionaries process what they have experienced in a healthy way. We believe this will strengthen the care she is already providing to missionaries who reach out to her from around the world.

Justin Is Preparing for DTS
Justin has now raised and saved about half of what he needs to attend a Discipleship Training School (DTS) in Davao, Philippines, where his brother Lemuel is currently serving on staff.
He has been working hard to help make this possible, taking on whatever small jobs he can find - including janitorial work, cutting grass, and even working for a moving company. We are proud of the effort he is putting into preparing for this next step.

My Fourth Book Is Now Available!
I am excited to share that my fourth book, Step by Step Through the Bible: The Gospels, is now available in paperback! The Kindle edition is scheduled for release in September.
This devotional takes a slow, chronological walk through the life of Jesus, bringing together the accounts of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Through the daily readings, we follow Jesus through His teachings, miracles, conversations, ministry, journey to the cross, resurrection, and ascension.
Over the course of about five months, we work through the Gospels one step at a time. Each day includes a Scripture reading, a devotional thought, practical application, and prayer. My hope is that the book will help readers understand how the events of the Gospels fit together, better understand the life and ministry of Jesus, and grow closer to Him along the way.

An Unexpected Electrical Expense
Last month, we had a cable technician come to our house to fix a problem with our internet connection. While working, he received an electrical shock. We called an electrician to investigate, and incredibly, he was shocked as well. After looking into the problem, he told us that our electrical system needed to be updated to make the house safe.
The good news is that the necessary work has now been completed, and our home is safe. The unexpected part was the cost - more than $5,000. We were able to take out a loan to cover the repairs, but this was certainly not an expense we had planned for. If you would like to help us with some of this unexpected cost, any gift would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your prayers, encouragement, and support.

Prayer Points

• Haydee and Justin travel to the Philippines on September 24. Haydee will help Justin get settled for his DTS and will also spend time debriefing missionaries while she is there. Please pray for safe travel, smooth connections, and fruitful ministry.
• I'll be holding down the fort in Lynchburg while Haydee is gone. After 30 years of marriage, this will be the first time I've been by myself for three weeks! Pray that I survive - and that I can use the time well as I focus on our ministry with YWAM Lynchburg.
• Please pray for provision for our unexpected electrical repairs. We are thankful the work has been completed and our home is safe, but the expense was more than $5,000. Pray that God provides what is needed to help us cover the cost.
