He has been a mentor of mine since I started Bible school back when I was 19 years old. What he messaged me back brought a level of concern to my heart. He tested positive for COVID and it was wreaking havoc with his body and asked me to pray for him. For the next few weeks, my family and I spent time daily praying for his healing, but on January 16 he went home to be with his Lord and Savior. I have been grieving his departure, but also remembering the investment he implanted in my life. He has visited me more than anyone while I lived in the Philippines and Thailand. I am so grateful to have known this man. Please feel free to read the tribute to him that you can read by CLICKING HERE. His memorial service will be on February 4 back in Colorado. Therefore, we as a family are taking a road trip to attend it. This trip is unplanned, but things are coming together so we can be there. So if you are in Colorado and you would like to see us, please text or call me at 720-401-8347. I know due to COVID some would be uncomfortable spending time with us. That is fine. But if you want to see us, we want to see you. We will leave Colorado on February 16. Also, we moved to a different house, but we are still in Richmond, VA. If you would like our new address just reply to this email or text me and I will pass it on to you. Thank you to those who have been supporting us through this challenging season. Know we are so grateful for you. Thank you so much for praying and standing with us. In His service, Campbell Family Prayer Points:
You hear different descriptions when people write about Pastor Russ. Things like an Apostle, General, mentor, leader, and so on. While all of those are true, the one a lot of people say was he was a father. Since his passing, I have wanted to write what the Dean means to me. The problem is when I start to think about it emotions start raising and I would end up crying. His life impacted me more than I can even imagine. He was like a father to me. He believed in me when I didn’t. He saw something in me and called it out. He pushed me and corrected me. My gratitude runs deep. I am so thankful I had the privilege to have him in my life. I was reading my Bible and I realized the Bible I was reading out of was given to me by Pastor Russ. How appropriate. A man of God who loved the Word of God so much would give to one of his spiritual sons a Bible. I remember the day he gave it to me back in the Philippines. I was preaching on John the Baptist a couple of weeks ago. I was saying how John the Baptist wasn’t looking for honor from man, but pointing to Jesus the Lamb of God. And because his focus was on pointing Jesus over everything else, John the Baptist is now honored before God and man. I believe this is also true of Pastor Russ. He didn’t seek to build his name or his legacy. He was not building his kingdom but the Kingdom of God. And because of that, I believe Pastor Russ is being honored in heaven before God and also before us today on earth. I am still grieving. I still find myself crying. But my tears are mixed with the gratitude of knowing such a man. In his last Facebook post on Dec 26, Pastor Russ told us that he had COVID and said he would see us on the other side. I don’t think he was referring to heaven, but it is true, we will see him on the other side. Joshua 1:1-3 is a passage that keeps coming to mind. Let us continue to live out what Pastor Russ lived for. At the beginning of this year, I had invitations to speak. But after prayer, I didn’t feel I was to accept them. I had no idea what was coming, but come mid-March, a lot of my hesitation made a lot of sense. March- In the second week of March I was in Virginia Beach helping them with their staff training for their upcoming Discipleship Training School. Shortly after that, I drove to New York to pick up Haydee and Michaella who went there with Haydee’s brother and sister who visited us from the Philippines. They were booked to fly out on March 14 from JFK Airport. News of COVID was breaking and New York was heading into a lockdown, and on March 15 we were driving back to Virginia. Once home we had an English, Language, and Culture (ELC) school starting in YWAM Richmond. We had 21 students flying in from Latin America and Korea. But with all of the chaos only 16 arrived. Not knowing what we were facing we locked down the Base. All flights were canceled, so we ran our ELC right through Lockdown. Our small Filipino church was not ready for online services. I, within a week, built a website and help set up online giving for our church. I had a hand in starting our online services. YWAM Richmond went from feeding 50 households a month to 120. Many lost their jobs in our area. We are still doing our best to help those in our area who are in need. April- I was to travel to Orlando for my Master’s two weeks intensive. That became two weeks on Zoom. May- We hosted the National Day of Prayer online! We had around 500 join us from all around praying for our nation. June- Riots break out in Richmond. We responded by bringing Richmond churches to Lee’s Monument for a Day of Prayer and Worship. It was powerful. Hundreds showed up. Also, our ELC finishes. About half still can’t leave the country. We run a 6-week seminar on Prayer & Counseling. Many of our ELC graduates along with others join. Also, we start going door to door to invite our neighbors to attend our Jesus Gatherings. We saw people came to know Jesus as we went to 2500+ homes. September- We started our first Discipleship Training School in Virginia Beach with 14 students and our Discipleship Bible School in Richmond with 7 students. And we are also started going back to our neighbors to give them Bibles. October- Our next Master’s intensive was to be in Canada, but again it went to Zoom. As for what is coming, /we are going to move soon (same city, different house). More details in our next newsletter. This has been our busiest year we have had for a long time. Between YWAM, working on my Master’s, and helping our church there has been a lot on our plate. Thank you for supporting us through this crazy year. As for all of us, we don't know what next year will look like. But we do know God is faithful and he will make a way. We do ask you to remember us through your year-end-giving. Would you continue your generous support by clicking here? It is with deep appreciation that we thank you for your partnership. Blessings to you and your family as we enter this season of celebrating the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ! Campbell Family Prayer Points - Michaella is graduating High School! Pray as she is deciding where to go for University. Also pray for scholarships, grants, etc. Let us know if you know any that she would qualify for . - YWAM Richmond as we ask God how to move forward with our ever-changing environment. - Dustin as he works on his thesis. Starting in March everybody’s world flipped. That would include ours. Pretty much everything planned was thrown away and we had to pick up everything on the fly. Here are some highlights. 1-Last April I was to travel to Orlando for my Master’s intensive. That didn’t happen. It became two weeks online via Zoom. 2-Our YWAM Richmond’s Potter’s Pantry feeding program that was feeding 50 households a month jumped to 120 households in one week. Many families lost their jobs and needed food. We have been doing our best to help them since last April. 3-A lot of our stranded ELC students who couldn’t get home ended up staying for our Prayer and Counseling Seminar over the Summer. 4-We had 12 Summer teams scheduled to come- all canceled. 5-Riots broke out in Richmond. God lead us to call the church to bring worship to the protest. We saw hundreds worship and protesters coming to know Jesus. It was powerful. (See Picture) 6-We are going to all 2500+ doors in our neighborhood inviting people to come to open-air events at our campus to hear the gospel. We believe that everyone has the right to hear about Jesus Christ's gift of salvation. 7-What about my Master’s intensive in Canada this October? That’s right, it is on Zoom once again. This year we have been so busy we have struggled to communicate as we have in the past. With that, I am so sorry. But at the same time, we are so grateful for those of you who have been faithful in supporting us through this season. Thank you so much for standing by us. In His service, Campbell Family PS. Like many around the world, mid-March changed a lot of things for us. Our plans changed and our lifestyle was dramatically altered. If you read our last newsletter you know that we had 16 international students who just arrived to study English in our base the week this blew up. We quarantined our campus and the school is running with no one getting sick. They will graduate on June 12. As a YWAM Richmond, we had been feeding around 50 households once a month for a number of years. Due to the loss of jobs, we had lots of new households apply and that number jumped up to 120 households. Though financial and food donations (see picture) we have been able to keep up with the demand and help families in desperate need. I (Dustin) was also scheduled to travel to Orlando for a two-week intensive for my Master's degree. Since we couldn't travel, it became a two-week intensive via Zoom. I would have preferred in-person interaction, but considering everything it went very well. Also, I have been helping our church transfer everything online, from building a website, online donations, and weekly video productions. As a family, we are doing well. The kids have been doing online schooling for a few years now, so that really hasn't changed much. Haydee has been doing a lot of communication touching base with those in our church. And all the meetings that I have with YWAM has switched to Zoom. For us, the transition hasn't given us a lot of downtimes. But I am grateful through it all we have been able to serve in the midst of all the adversity. I want to thank all of you who have continued to support us throughout all of this. There is no way we could have continued without you. Some of our supporters have stopped while others have given extra. We are so grateful to you all. Will you continue to support us by clicking here? Your support will help us continue doing what we are called to do in these usual times. In His service, Dustin and Haydee Campbell All of our lives changed in the past couple of weeks or months depending on where you live. Here is what is happening in YWAM Richmond. On the day when this was hitting, we had 16 English Language and Culture (ELC) students fly in from outside of the country. Most of them came from Latin America. Now they are in a place where all of their home countries have closed their borders and can't get home. Having a bunch of people living together in a time like this is exceptionally challenging. So here is our game plan. We have divided our staff from on-base staff and off-base staff. All on-base staff and students are quarantined. No one living on base will be allowed to leave the base. The off base staff will not be allowed to go on the base for any reason unless it is for a food/ supply drop off in on-base we are calling a "hot zone." This hot zone is a building on our property where we will do a drop-off, sanitize the drop-off, and then leave with no physical contact with on-base people. After a while then the on-base people will come and pick up the drop-off. My role (Dustin), will be food pick up. This is by far the job that has the most exposure. I will be doing my best to protect myself and my family by wearing gloves and a face mask. Also when I enter my home I will change my clothes at the door, shower, and sanitize my footwear and anything else I bring in. Unlike any other time, please pray for good health for my family and me. Also, I am sure you understand that our support has dropped during this time. I totally get it. We are all being hit. But if you could give an extra gift more now then before, it is will be highly appreciated. You can donate by clicking here. May God bless you as in Philippians 4:19. I do believe that this is a time where God is moving and we have a rule in it. Please take the time to read my short blog about that by clicking here. Stay safe. If you don't have to go into the public, then don't. If you are above 55 and/or have underlining health issues please stay home. Ask someone to go get food and supplies for you. I know we like to do things for ourselves. This is the time we need to support each other. Please do reach out to us. We want to hear from you. Let us know how we can pray for you. Thank you so much for standing by us. In His service, Dustin & Haydee along with Michaella, Lemuel, and Justin Prayer Points:
I believe we need to walk in wisdom, but not fear. This can be a time where the the body of Christ can reach out to others or pull back. I see three things we need to do.
